Police in New York City took one person into custody Tuesday afternoon after responding to reports of a shooting in lower Manhattan.
New York police spokesperson J. Peter Donald tweeted at 3:21 p.m. that officers were responding to reports of shots fired. The department also announced on Twitter that one person had been taken into custody and that there were no other outstanding suspects or active threats.
Police advised people to avoid the area around Chambers St. and West St. An investigation was ongoing.
A video purportedly from the scene also showed victims lying on ground.
Other images and video showed a significant police presence in the area, as well as what appeared to be a wrecked truck.
